Quick Tips to Boost Your Immune System

No matter what's happening in life, it is always important that we take care of our health. A big part of that includes taking care of our immune system. According to health professionals, we need a robust and effective immune system to protect us from germs and pathogens. Immunity is our first line of defense against many illnesses that can land us in the hospital. Taking care of our immune system starts with making a few wise and simple choices. Enjoy the following quick tips that will help you boost your immune system:

Get 7-8 hours of sleep

Sleep deprivation increases the hormone cortisol. Prolonged elevation suppresses the immune system. Start lowering lights and creating a calm environment 90 minutes before you want to be asleep.

Move your body every 30 minutes

Try an at-home workout with the FitOn app (free) or the Nike Training app (free). If you haven’t worked out in a while, no sweat—they have short 10-15-minute workouts. YOU ARE SO CAPABLE AND WORTH THE WORK!

Connect with God

Stress also raises your cortisol levels. Breathe, meditate, do whatever you can to feel more connected to God and less stressed. I love the Churchome app – it’s free and there’s a 5-8 minute prayer meditation daily. I listen to it on the way to work!

Amp up your healthy food intake

Eat food rich in Vitamin C (oranges, strawberries, broccoli, kale, lemons, etc). Get some Vitamin D as well by spending 20 minutes outside in the sun and add in these foods: salmon, egg yolks, canned tuna, etc. If you prefer supplements, Viva Naturals and NOW Foods are credible brands.

Gain more energy and stay healthy. You are worth it!
